Keep Your Corporate Greed Out of My Water
It’s not rocket science. We need a public water system. We need to revoke this greedy, inept, arrogant company’s charter. We need this public commission to show some basic leadership, and not play to these negotiations, but do your job, and show them the door. And assuming leadership is tough to come by, the very, very, very, very, very least you can do is deny WV American Water’s outrageous rate hike. More

FERC Changes Date of Meeting to TRY to Avoid Protestors
'Dishonest and deceitful,' protestors say: Lee Stewart of BXE slammed FERC's change-of-date, saying that FERC's statement about protecting staff is "dishonest and deceitful, and demonstrates unambiguously that they are more interested in the needs and profits of industry than in the needs of the American people,' he said in a statement. "Instead of changing its meeting dates to try to avoid protests, FERC should have the courage and integrity to end its subservience to industry, and start being concerned with the health and safety of people being victimized by fracking and gas infrastructure expansion, not make up false charges and insinuations." He did not say whether the protest events would be rescheduled, but promised that protestors would continue to show up at FERC's public meetings. More

oday approximately 200 West Virginians rallied for healthy communities at the West Virginia Dept. of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) headquarters in Charleston. The People’s Foot, a coalition of West Virginia groups and individuals, held the “No More Mountaintop Removal Permits Day” to demand that the WVDEP stop issuing new permits for this coal extraction method. Mountaintop removal causes clouds of fine blasting dust, known to promote lung cancer and other diseases, to drift through communities. More

The weather forecast is not the greatest, so we really need folks already in the Charleston area to show up if at all possible. More
