April showers have indeed brought on the May flowers, as well as some easy actions to take this month. Give ’em a read, and stick around until the end when we at OVEC share a little of what’s growing in our gardens.

Join Us!

OVEC is seeking an Administrative Director with a strong work ethic, familiarity with remote work and management, attention to detail and tracking, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. As a fully integrated member of the small OVEC team, the Administrative Director will be responsible for keeping OVEC on track financially and operationally. Follow the link for more info!

You, Me & Democracy

Join OVEC coalition group West Virginians for Democracy and the Declaration for American Democracy for a storytelling training on the For the People Act! Learn how to build power for the pro-democracy movement in West Virginia by telling your story of why the For the People Act is important to you. Register here.

A Better Vision for the Valley

Join CORR, the League of Women Voters, and the Climate Reality Project for a conference to brainstorm the sustainable economic development potential in our communities. The event will feature presentations from experts and entrepreneurs on economic opportunity, followed by a Q&A. Register here.

Plastic-Free Groceries

OVEC and volunteers have started a campaign to help you send a letter asking that grocery store managers and CEOs in your area immediately begin efforts to reduce plastic packing and ultimately move entirely to alternatives to plastic packaging.

To President Biden from West Virginians

Sign on to this letter, written in response to one sent by Joe Manchin on February 9, 2021, in which he urged the continued building of pipelines for fossil fuels, citing safety, energy security and jobs as reasons for his support of pipelines. We are West Virginia residents, and we are speaking up because, in this, Joe Manchin does not represent us.

May Flowers

OVEC’s staff appreciates your support, so we wanted to share a little of our joy with you. Here are some photos of what’s growing in staffers’ yards and terrariums for you to enjoy.
