Thanks to our friends at WV Rivers Coalition who have made it easy for you to comment! Here’s the information they are sharing:
Email your comments by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 to PCS@orsanco.org.
Now is your opportunity to comment on three corporations’ requests to be excused from requirements to limit the mercury they dump into the river. Tell ORSANCO, the commission that sets pollution limits, that every company must follow the law – no delays, no excuses.
Suggested messages include:
• Don’t delay in enforcing the ban on allowing high levels of mercury in our water supply.
• Reject requests for certain companies to get a “variance” from the law. There should be consequences for companies who don’t comply with regulations, not a pass to continue to violate the law.
• These corporations were given 12 years to clean up their act, allowing them more time to dump high amounts of mercury isn’t fair.
• The Ohio River already suffers the most industrial pollution in the nation, now must be the time to change that.

Thanks WVRC!
