What: Citizens Call on Oil and Gas Industry and Politicians to Safeguard WV Waters
When: 6 -7 p.m. February 10, 2015
Where: People will meet at 6 p.m. at the corner of Clendenin and Lee Streets in Charleston, WV and will then proceed to the sidewalks outside the Charleston Marriott Town Center.
Why: The Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia, Inc. holds its winter meeting at the Charleston Marriot on Feb. 10 – 11. On February 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., IOGAWV will host a “Membership and Legislative Reception,” sponsored by Dominion Field Services and Dominion Transmission.
Oil and gas industry lobbyists are among those leading the efforts to pass H.B. 2574/S.B. 423, “Amending the Aboveground Storage Tank Act.” This bill would gut last year’s unanimously-passed SB 373, the Above Ground Storage Tank Act, drafted in the wake of the MCHM chemical spill that contaminated the drinking water of about a sixth of the state’s population.
Who: This event is organized by active members of the WV Safe Water Roundtable, a coalition of organizations committed to working together to ensure the availability of clean, safe water to sustain life and a vital economy in West Virginia.
