On #WorldWaterDay, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, the WV Legislature was considering several bills to rollback the minimal safeguards for clean water we have here in West Virginia.
One such bill, HB 2506, was considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee that day. The bill would allow more cancer-causing toxins to be dumped into our drinking water supplies. HB 2506 is now headed to the Senate Floor for a vote. Make your voices heard, and call your state Senator and send an email to ask them to vote no on this bill! More details here.
News of another terrible bill emerged the next day:

Also one day after #WorldWaterDay, the two fossil fuel industries that so obviously have so many state politicians in their pocket gave us yet another example of the grave threat these industries pose to clean water and human health:

Courtesy gas fracking: DEP responds to spill at injection well site, property owners concerned operation is breaking judicial order
OVEC project coordinator Dustin White headed out to his native Boone County to check the site of this latest coal slurry disaster.

OVEC’s work to defend our water is ongoing, and obviously urgent. If you want to help out, please e-mail info@ohvec.org.
Note that WV Rivers Coalition has a Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Training coming up on April 8 in Kanawha County. Pre-registration is required for the training and the deadline for that is April 5. Please fill out this form to register, or call 304-637-7201.
