The West Virginia DEP will host a Water Quality Standards public meeting on Wednesday, December 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Dolly Sods conference room (room 1125) at DEP headquarters, 601 57th St SE in Charleston. Our good friends at WV Rivers are on the agenda to present the Human Health Criteria proposal that they submitted in partnership with several other groups who have been working together as the Water Policy Workgroup. Please plan to attend and help spread the word, as we need a lot of people in attendance to show support of our proposal for stronger human health criteria. People can participate online, too. Here’s the DEP notice: DEP will provide an update on algae and nutrient monitoring efforts as well as a review of the State Legislative Mandate for review of Human Health Criteria. The WV Manufacturer’s Association and the WV Rivers Coalition will present their recommendations for Human Health Criteria revisions. Please use the links listed below to view the meeting announcement: Meeting announcement and materials on DEP Public Meetings page Meeting announcement on SOS Public Meetings page If you would like to participate in this meeting remotely, please use the following Zoom meeting information: Topic: WQS Public Meeting Join Zoom Meeting Meeting ID: 475 048 447 Please note that there will be no telephone call-in number for this meeting because we have recently obtained audio equipment that will allow for your participation through your computer or mobile device’s microphone and speakers. This new equipment should help alleviate the issue that we have experienced of people attending the meeting remotely not being able to clearly hear on-site meeting participants, who are not close enough to the phone, when they ask questions or offer input. We hope that the new equipment will improve the meeting experience for those attending remotely. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your interest, Christopher Smith |
