We know we can’t solve social, environmental, and climate justice issues without confronting and dismantling racism in every institution. These are interconnected issues that all justice activism must address. Keeping in mind that environmental issues are also social problems, we are continuing to organize around an urgent issue concerning our entire region with the understanding that environmental injustice disproportionately impacts people in low-income communities and communities of color. |

SEND A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES In response to a recent report from the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition drafted a letter to send to legislators in West Virginia and across the region. According to the IEEFA report, there is mounting evidence that petrochemical development in Appalachia is a poor economic proposition. Instead of investing in flailing industries that poison our land, air, water, and communities, it’s time for our leaders to explore economic development strategies that provide long-term prosperity for people in our region. Help us build pressure on our elected officials and urge them to focus on alternative solutions and pathways toward a sustainable future. Send the letter to your representatives here. |
