West Virginia lovers of clean water who haven’t succumbed to joining Facebook may want to know about this event organized by WV fracktivists. OVEC volunteers are working on a carpool from Huntington. E-mail info@ohvec.org if you need a ride or can share a ride.
Protest Dick Cheney’s Visit to West Virginia
Dick Cheney spearheaded the creation of the Halliburton Loophole, exempting the injection of fracking fluids from the Safe Drinking Water Act. Among other unsavory things, Cheney has also defended the CIA “interrogation tactics” used in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.
On September 3, Cheney will keynote the Chamber of Commerce meeting at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Cheney shouldn’t get a red carpet greeting. Come protest his visit to WV.
Meet up by 11:30 a.m. at the White Sulphur Springs City Park on Greenbrier Ave, across from Howard Creek. (Cross street is Memorial St.) There ‘s plenty of parking at the park.
Folks will walk to Rt. 60, and along sidewalks to the front of the hotel. Bring signs, nothing too wide, as protesters will need to stay on the public sidewalks and will need to keep moving, so as not to “loiter.” Protest time is noon.
The parking lot across from the hotel belongs to the hotel, so don’t park there.
Thanks for posting this. I’ll be there!
I would love to be there but I have to work. I would prefer that this man never set foot on WV soil. What is Jim Justice and the Chamber of Commerce thinking?. Oh yeah, money.
I am so sorry that I cannot be there to protest Cheney’s arrival at The Greenbriar. I will be there in spirit. I hope there’s hundreds there to give him the “welcome” he deserves!
I’m planning to come to the protest. Wish we could get inside the meeting…
