OVEC’s Monster Membership Drive and HallowGreen Bash!

Hello Ghoulies,

We invite you to join us all of October for our first ever Monster Membership Drive and HallowGreen Spooktacular Celebration! There will be events all month long centered around the Monster Membership Drive leading up to our HallowGreen virtual party.

We invite all friends of OVEC to be part of the movement that makes a difference in our community by becoming a member (for free!) or making a gift during the month of October. Becoming an OVEC member helps scare off those who want to harm our environment and communities. Not only is it an opportunity to support work to make a positive difference in our communities, it’s a celebration of what can happen when we work together. Invite your friends to become OVEC monsters too! We can’t do it without your help.

• Moundsville Prison Story Time – Tuesday, October 20 at 6 p.m.

• Kids Corner Story Time and Costume Contest – Wednesday, October 28 at 2 p.m.
• HallowGreen Spooktacular Celebration and Costume Contest – Friday, October 30 at 7 p.m.

Costume Photos

Snap pictures of you, family members, pets, or friends in your Halloween costumes with signs asking folks to join OVEC and send to us so we can feature these photos on our social media. Your costume photo will also be entered into our costume contests. Send photos to dustin@ohvec.org.

Spooky Stories

Record your reading of a spooky short story and submit it to us to be featured during our events. We especially want West Virginia or Appalachian-related ghost stories. Send via email to dustin@ohvec.org.

Costume Contests

Kids Corner Costume Contest: There will be prizes for the best costume in ages 0-5 years old and 5-10 years old. If you cannot attend the live event at 2 p.m., entries can still be submitted via Facebook until Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. Our winners will be announced at 8 p.m. at our Spooktacular Celebration on Oct. 30.

HallowGreen Costume Contest: We will have prizes for three categories: Funniest, Scariest, and Best Upcycled (costume from recycled items rather than purchased). Costumes will be showcased during our live event and the winner will be announced at the end. We do urge all costumes to be upcycled as much as possible.
