Huntington Celebrates World Water Day: Today, March 22
Join OVEC and the Marshall University Native American Student Organization.

If you aren’t quite yet swearing off the social media platform, join the event on Facebook and invite others, too.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. Harris Riverfront Park with a Water Celebration, and then will continue at OVEC’s office at 725 14th St. West. We’ll screen What Lies Upstream.

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on 22 March. The day focuses attention on the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in developing countries. The day also focuses on advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

The Huntington-Cabell Branch of the NAACP will host a “meet the candidates” event from 6:30 to 8 p.m., on Monday, March 26.

The branch is inviting all candidates running for local, county and state offices to take part.

The event takes place at the A.D. Lewis Community Center, at 1450 A.D. Lewis Ave., near 10th Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard in Huntington.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

The NAACP urges the public to attend to become informed about the candidates.

The goal of the Community Organizing Summit is to empower and strengthen grassroots activism with leadership training, coalition building, and outreach.

The Summit will also provide opportunities for in-depth learning on select topics.

Schedule and session topics will be posted here and on our Facebook event page.

Registration is required by March 30. Complete your registration for attendance, meals and lodging through Eventbrite.

Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance to attend. If you are applying for a scholarship, please fill out this form. Individuals applying for a scholarship do not need to register through Eventbrite. Scholarship applications are due by tomorrow, March 23.
