Here’s a near-cornucopia of November events we wanted to make sure you know about: |
||||||||||
November 9 and 10: Coal Community Workgroup Listening Sessions The WV House of Delegates Coal Communities Workgroup Listening Tour comes to the Marshall County Fairgrounds Chevron Building, 714 Myrtle Ave., Moundsville (use the 12th St. entrance). The Morgantown stop for the WV House of Delegates Coal Communities Workgroup Listening Tour takes place at the Shack Neighborhood House, 537 Blue Horizon Dr., Pursglove, WV. For folks nearby these locations, these are good opportunities to meet directly with state legislators. Let them know your ideas and suggestions for your community to thrive as the nation’s energy needs transition away from coal, presenting unique challenges for West Virginia, its economy, and those who call it home. For more information regarding the listening tours and workgroup members, check out this link. Also be sure to check out what one former miner said to a TV news crew at the first session, held in Logan on October 25. |

November 10 to 13 (at least!): Log Out – We’re Really Over Facebook Why? From allowing white supremacists to plan a violent insurrection to ignoring disinformation for profit, Facebook is doing their worst. So civil rights groups are doing the thing that will get Facebook’s attention: logging out. Just by taking the pledge, you can get Facebook’s attention and show them that people worldwide refuse to engage with their platform until they fix it. Read more about it here: Would you take a Facebook or Instagram break? Why civil rights groups want you to log out |
