OVEC and West Virginia Interfaith Power & Light are teaming up to host second-Friday free film nights each month.

The inaugural film screening features Chasing Coral, a documentary which takes viewers on a thrilling ocean adventure as a team of divers, photographers, and scientists set out to discover why reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate. This first-rate film provides a look at an underwater world few of us had the opportunity to see up close.

Please plan to join us this Friday, August 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charleston, WV, 520 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, West Virginia 25302.

Join the event on Facebook here, and please invite others.

We hope to see you at these upcoming events, too:

September 8: Ohio River Rising Huntington: Part of Nationwide Rise for Climate Rallies

September 15: OVEC’s Annual Meeting and Treehuggers’ Ball

One more thing…

You’ve may noticed that we’ve been alerting folks to the fact that water quality standards throughout the Ohio River watershed are in grave danger, due to some proposed changes to pollution standards that ORSANCO has tentatively adopted.

Please consider writing a comment by August 20 to ORSANCO, and also to Governor Justice (who appoints and influences WV’s commissioners to ORSANCO).

Find background information on the issue and how to submit a comment here.
