Natalie needs help with Internet research to identify new potential foundations to approach. You may have friends who would support OVEC by becoming major donors (contributing $5,000 or more). If so, consider working with Natalie to arrange meetings where your friends can learn more about OVEC's work. Contact Natalie for details.

Natalie Thompson, Executive Director: Natalie was promoted from within the organization to Executive Director on October 1, 2016. She grew up in the southern WV coalfields, where her environmental consciousness was shaped early-on by witnessing with her grandfather, a former underground mine foreman, the aftermath of the mountaintop removal of Kayford Mountain. Kayford was hunting ground and a playground for generations of her family. Natalie, with her father and grandfather, had often picked blackberries and filled up jugs of spring water on the mountain.

Natalie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Assessment and Policy from Marshall University. She serves as OVEC’s representative on the WV Environmental Council board and the Cabell-Huntington NAACP board. She is also on the steering committee of Energy Efficient West Virginia, and on the planning committee for the Annual Huntington Sustainability Fair. She has created, led, and/or volunteered for many community projects in Huntington and is the former Principal Executive Officer and current Advisory Board member of Create Huntington. Most recently, Natalie has become a founding member of the first WV Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice, WVSURJ.
