July 27: OVEC Picnic
OVEC members and their guests are invited to a fun, family friendly picnic in the forest from 5 p.m. to dusk on Friday, July 27. We'll gather at a picnic shelter in the Kanawha State Forest (KSF), near Charleston, W. Va. Reply to this e-mail for info on the shelter's location.

What to bring: you, your family and friends. OVEC will provide all the fixings, such as hot dogs, vegetarian not-dogs, buns, toppings, side-dishes, deserts and beverages. (Note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park.) You don't have to bring anything food-related unless you have special dietary needs.

We do encourage you to bring musical instruments and picnic-friendly games and toys, such as Frisbees. KSF has camping sites and a pool.

Come on out to meet other OVEC members and staff, and to find out how you can get more actively involved in our work — which always includes some fun.

Stop the Frack Attack
On Saturday, July 28, thousands of people from across the country will converge on the U.S. Capitol in the first national action on fracking. We’ll tell Congress, the President and the world to end the rush to drill and stop the frack attack.

Starting at 2 p.m. we’ll rally at the Capitol, calling for a more sustainable future where drilling for natural gas does not threaten our air and water. At 3:30 p.m. we’ll begin a two-mile march on Washington, D.C. streets, with stops to deliver frack water to ANGA (American Natural Gas Association) and API (American Petroleum Institute). Click here for a map showing the rally location and the march route.

A bus, which will drop you off at the rally site, leaves from Morgantown, W.Va. at 9 a.m. Saturday. Get on the bus! Click here for more info and to order your tickets. (There’s still time, but please order your tickets right away). OVEC members will be carpooling to Morgantown after the picnic the night before, so reply to this e-mail if you want info on our carpool/ lodging plans.

The march ends in time to re-board buses at 5:30 p.m. and head for home.

What is the frack attack and what more can you do? Learn more here. Also, check out our daily updates on Marcellus Shale news.

If you think drill rigs don’t belong in kitchen windows, join us in D.C. to stop the frack attack!
