Feb. 21: Monthly Membership Meeting at OVEC Office
If you are in the Huntington area on Tuesday, February 21, please join us at 5:30 p.m. at our office, 725 14th Street West, in the Old Central City neighborhood.

This meeting will feature a postcard writing session, where you may write postcards to representatives about issues that are important to you. We’ll first hear a brief update about how pending changes in Washington might affect our work.

These meetings are a chance for you to meet other OVEC members and staff, to share issues of concern to you, as well as a chance for you to learn more about and become more engaged in the work we do together.

Current, lapsed and future members are invited to attend. We hope to see you there! Contact Keena at 304-522-0246 or keena@ohvec.org for more information or directions.

20th Treehuggers’ Ball/30th Anniversary and More Dates to Save
Woot! Woot! Save the date: Friday, April 28 is OVEC’s 20th Treehuggers’ Ball and 30th anniversary celebration. We’ll celebrate these two milestones in one big bash at the V Club in Huntington. The nationally traveling, Cincinnati-based trash-grass unit, Rumpke Mountain Boys, will headline the evening.

We realize that the People’s Climate March takes place the next day in D.C., so we have emerging plans to hold a solidarity march that day, Saturday, April 29 in Huntington. Anyone who is willing to volunteer to help make this a strong solidarity rally, please e-mail info@ohvec.org.

While you are marking your calendar to save the big bash’s date, add Saturday, May 20. That’s the date of the 3rd annual Huntington Sustainability Fair. We are looking for volunteers and participants to kick start the action now. Learn more here.

There are other events coming up sooner, such as:

February 7: WVEC Annual Legislative Kick-Off Blast
February 9: Peoples’ Drinking Water Source Public Hearing in Fayette County
February and March in several cities: Public Hearings to Comment on Atlantic Coast Pipeline DEIS
February 27: E-Day! at the State Capitol and WVEC’s Annual Awards Dinner
March 2: All Kinds Are Welcome Here Civil Liberties Lobby Day: WV State Capitol
