with Maria Gunnoe, 2009 Goldman Environmental Prize Winner and
Julia “Judy” Bonds,  2003 Goldman Environmental Prize Winner

2: 15 p.m.        Depart for ground tour of mountaintop removal site hosted by community members who are directly impacted by this devastating form of coal mining

5:00 p.m. Return from ground tour

6:30 p.m. Dinner with panelists:

  • Chuck Nelson, retired coal miner and board member of the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition 
  • Bo Webb, volunteer with Coal River Mountain Watch
  • Cindy Rank, mining chair of the West Virginia Highland Conservancy
  • Patricia Feeney, OVEC organizer and coordinator of the Sludge Safety Project
  • A representative from the Southern Appalachian Mountain Stewards in Virginia.

7:30 p.m. Screening of award-winning documentary Burning the Future
