The only plaque on the monument that actually shows a miner instead of a machine.

Text of Donna's speech.

The grandfather and father of Julian Martin, center, were miners. Here Julian notes that this plaque shows not one miner, only machines that take miners' jobs, as well as the communities, forests, streams and mountains of southern West Virginia.
