April 18: OVEC's part of the fourth annual Earth Day celebration, hosted by West Virginia State University Extension Service's SCRATCH Project and Huntington Community Gardens. Activities run from 4-7 p.m. at the Barnett Center on 10th Ave. in Huntington, W.Va. Info here.

OVEC's Victory Celebration in Charleston
Bring your dancing shoes! Saturday, April 21 is OVEC's Victory Celebration. This event is open to OVEC members and their guests. Online registration is now closed, so call the OVEC office at 304-522-0246 if you still need to register. Please do try to register in advance so that we can get a head count for our caterers. We sure hope you will join us for this fun evening in Charleston, W.Va., complete with dinner, drinks and DJ-driven dancing.

Burning the Future on PBS
To help raise greater awareness about the ongoing health and environmental impacts of coal, an updated version of the award-winning film Burning the Future: Coal in America will be broadcast on select PBS stations in April and May, and will be available to view free online for Earth Day weekend, April 21-22 for individuals who sign up at BurningtheFuture.com Check your local listings, and please help spread the word.
The documentary follows the work of several OVEC volunteers, OVEC organizer Maria Gunnoe, scientists we have worked with, and others. Please let your friends and family know about these broadcasts. More info here.

May 10: Central Appalachian Womenb's Tribunal
Online registration is now live for the May 10 Central Appalachian Women's Tribunal, organized by the United Nations Feminist Task Force, Loretto at the UN and OVEC. The tribunal will take place in Charleston, W.Va.
This will be the first Women's Tribunal on Climate Justice to be held in the United States. Similar tribunals were held in 15 African, Asian and Latin American countries in 2011. The Tribunals focused on the collection of authentic, specific and exemplary testimonies of grassroots and rural women who have experienced climate change related problems in their lives and communities, and their search for solutions. Findings from this tribunal will be presented in June at Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.
