Take Action: CLEAN Up the Climate Bill
A message from The CLEAN:  As you know, the Senate version of the climate bill was introduced last week. While the Senate's bill is stronger than the House version in some respects - notably a 20% emissions reduction target as opposed to 17% in the House version - it still falls woefully short of what science tells us we must do to avert catastrophic climate change. As in the House bill, there are still giveaways to the coal and utility industries in the form of cap-and-trade allowances and investment in carbon capture and sequestration. And there is investment in research, development and training for the nuclear industry.

In light of our struggles in the coalfields and the recent UNEP report that says that we could see a 6-degree global temperature rise, even if all countries enforce all current climate legislation, we can and must do better. Please read CLEAN's statement here and then take action here

Help Steer Us Away from the PATH of Destruction
October 22 marks your final official your chance to be heard on PATH, the massive power line boondoggle that would condemn us to more mountaintop removal, more climate change, more of the usual disregard for people and the future associated with the energy industries.  If you can't make the remaining hearings, please make written comments. We have sample letters available; reply to this e-mail to see those.  Send your written comments to:
