Jan. 31:
Nowheres Else But Here: Paul Corbit Brown Photo
Exhibit
Please stick around after the Legislative Kickoff event. At 6 p.m.,
head down to
Taylor Books
at 226 Capitol St., Charleston, W.Va. for
a sneak peek of "Nowheres Else But Here," featuring selected photographs
by Paul
Corbit Brown. There will be light refreshments and wine at
this artist's reception. Paul's photos will be on display through
February 23 at the Taylor Books Annex Gallery and are selected from a larger
project, due to be released later this year, which examines the human
costs and the environmental degradation that results from the mining
and burning of coal.
A portion of all sales will be donated to the
Prenter Water
Fund which supplies clean drinking and cooking water to the
residents of Prenter, W.Va., where wells apparently have been
contaminated by coal mining waste.
"The global energy crisis is not an "us vs. them" situation. It is
the challenge and duty of every man, woman and child to actively
participate in its solution. The consumption of energy is not a right,
it is a responsibility," says Paul Corbit Brown.
