Mountaintop
Removal on National Public Radio
This morning, Weekend Edition Saturday aired "Bush
Administration Leaves Appalachia Scarred." OVEC board member
Larry Gibson and
Appalachian Center for the Economy & the Environment
executive director Joe Lovett were interviewed for this story. EPA's
Christine Todd Whitman's comments epitomize the Bush
administration's dismissal of the human and environmental impacts of
mountaintop removal.
Majora Carter's radio show,
The Promised
Land, will air "Different Takes on the Legacy of Martin Luther
King." The segment includes an interview with
Coal River Mountain
Watch's Judy Bonds, conducted with Larry Gibson on Kayford
Mountain. One place where you can listen online is at Texas radio
station
KUT's website. There, the show will air on Sunday, Jan. 18 at
11:00 a.m. Central Standard Time, or 10:00 a.m. Eastern.
